Auto update the year in your website footer

Set it ‘n forget it!

This blog died in 2019. It was a big year for MD Creative. We grew a team and worked A LOT and as a result, this blog fell on the back-burner big time (aka died) and honestly, I’m ok with that. I wouldn’t have been able to give it my best and I wouldn’t have enjoyed it. 2020 is looking a little different and I’m feeling like sharing and putting less pressure on myself on when and what I share. So, I’ll jump on here when I can and hopefully add some value to you and your business. Let’s see, right!?

This is a quick share on my end, but I feel compelled to share because I keep seeing websites with footers that have 2019 in their footers. This is such a quick and easy thing to do (and share) so let’s resurrect this blog of mine and ‘giver.

Here’s the text I use on my own site:

TIP: The screenshot frames portion of the html script that is the “current year” part, so you can write your footer text and then replace the year with this 😉

For most WordPress themes you can easily find the footer content area to add the text above by looking for “Theme Options” and if you get stuck after taking a look for it, here’s a handy video on how to edit footer text in any WordPress site.

For Squarespace, if you’re unsure of where to find the footer edit area here’s a handy video for you too!

For the past 4 years since starting this business, I have picked a word for the year. This year I couldn’t pick one, so I have two: ease and connection. I hope this post brings some ease to you and in some way, it connects us by me helping you create that ease.

If you get stuck on how to do this, let me know. I’ll help you out if you ask nicely.
